Not sure if you're charging too much—or too little? You're not alone.

This is your safe space to ask honest pricing questions without judgement. Whether you're just starting out or trying to raise your rates to reflect your experience, pricing can be a tough topic to navigate, especially when industry standards are often hush-hush or all over the place depending on where you live or what niche you're in.

What this thread is for:

Asking "Is this a fair rate for what I'm offering?"
Comparing rates across services (ie. freelance, modelling, makeup artistry, design, photography, etc.)
Understanding what others are charging and why
Gaining confidence in your pricing decisions

A few gentle guidelines:

Be kind and constructive when responding—this is a judgement-free zone.
Please include some context when asking for feedback:
→ What service are you offering?
→ Your experience level (beginner, intermediate, seasoned pro?)
→ What the rate includes (just labour? time? materials? travel?)
→ General location (city/province or country if possible—since pricing can vary a lot!)

Not sure how to word your question?
Try this:

"I'm offering a 2-hour photoshoot with light retouching included for $150. I've been doing photography for about a year. Does that seem fair in the GTA?"

Whether you're trying to figure out your worth, avoid undercharging, or just want a sanity check—we've got you.

Let's lift each other up by sharing real-world experiences and helping everyone price themselves with confidence.

I have a simple pricing rules. If I am out of work, I can do it for a small price because I do not want to lose the client. However, when I am already busy I will be charging my standard price. My pricing is also based on how good I am at it.
